When are now living in a society full of Generation Me.

The Generation Me Clan will never be a REAL friend.
In times of need, they will never be there for you.
No matter how bad life gets, you will never know who your true friends are until you call on them when the going gets tough.
The people I thought I could call on the most, are actually the ones who turned their backs on me.
And sadly, it was my so called friends from the army world I once knew.
I only had one beautiful army wife help me, I met her in Singleton - Jo Mae
and one Veteran Vietnam - Rick O'Shea.
Both of them helped feed my children - and for that I will be forever grateful.
I still owe both of them money they sent me.
I owe a lot of people money - I guess that doesn't matter to the Australian government.
My ex-husband didn't want to pay child support, so he didn't have too.
WOW, what an amazing Retired Infantry Captain he is - he must be a true representative of his country.

It's all about selfies - It puts so much pressure on the everyday person.
We have the gorgeous popular Instagram girls that travel the world - they are so young.
I have no idea how they can even afford it.
Everyone wants to be like them.
It just creates more insecurities and unrealistic expectations.
Social media has gone insane.
It's all manufactured celebrities with no talent.
It's all about what you look like - it's superficial and it has engrossed the Generation Me crowds.
It stops so many impressionable young adults from having a real life.
Manufactured Social Media celebrities are all their idols will be the next leaders of the world.
What does everyone think about that?
NOT EVERYONE CAN BE A WINNER ALL THE TIME!
Generation Me has grown up thinking they can win-win-win.
Children are growing up in a non-competitive world where everyone is a winner!
Well, that's bad!
Children have to learn the lessons of winning and losing.
“It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.”

Do many kids play fun competitive sports now, or are they all at home in front of their devices?
What's mum or dad doing?
Coming home late from work?
I know my ex-husband was a screen addict - I was the complete opposite.
Several of my jobs entailed me working at the computer, so when I arrived home, my free time was doing anything and everything that was NOT SCREEN TIME.
MY PREFERENCE - OUTDOORS!
Growing up at school, I competed in almost all sports that were available to me.

1993 - Central Institute of Technology (C.I.T), Heretaunga Wellington, New Zealand
Sports were fun, and it kept the bond of friends together during the best times of my life - School!
I loved the feeling of winning.
Not because I wanted to 'smash' the opposition, but because I knew I worked hard to get there.
That's considered lots and lots of training.
I gave everything a go - I wasn't great at all sports, but it was always fun being part of a team. Some of the sports include:

I even went tandem sky diving in Brisbane - NEVER AGAIN - But hey, I gave it a go!
I loved sports, but it's not for everyone.
I am a terrible artist, but I love to doodle.

I was part of Brownies and Girl Guides.
Ballet, Jazz Ballet, Jazz Dance.
Fishing, horse-riding, hiking, camping.
I had piano lessons but never stuck to it...
I never excelled in anything.
But that's OK - it takes an extremely focused mind and sometimes, it's the parents providing and incredible amount of support in the background too.
Not every child will grow up to be a celebrity, an astronaut, a musician, a professional sportsperson, a great artist, or the President of the United States!
And not every parent will have the flexibility or the money to assist children in achieving greatness!
Sometimes its friends and extended family that can also be there to guide children.
THAT'S CALLED COMMUNITY SUPPORT!
Most kids will grow up and just be normal - and that's OK.
As long as they are honest, hard-working, and respectful citizens - then what more can a parent ask for?
